Students in Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹'s School of Media and Journalism have earned two awards from the — the regional Emmy competition recognizing outstanding student broadcast journalism.
The team was honored in the College Newscast or Headline News category for their April 17, 2025 broadcast. The recognized team members are Nuried Nurtado Guzman, Emma Campbell, Sydney Brown, Hayden Cruz, Sofia Helena Dambros Da Silva, Nikki Gasiewski and Katie Waggle.

Brown also earned a second award for the station, winning in the College Hard News Report category for a story examining the economic impact of federal trade policy on regional businesses.
"These students aren't just learning journalism — they're doing it at the highest level," said Emily Metzgar, director of the School of Media and Journalism. "To be recognized by NATAS alongside professional broadcasters across the region is a testament to the talent and dedication of our students and the quality of what we're building here at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹."
KSTV is one of 12 student media outlets that make up Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Student Media, a nationally recognized network of independent, student-run organizations producing content across television, radio, print, digital and social platforms. From the award-winning Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹r newspaper to Black Squirrel Radio and A Magazine, students can get involved from their first day on campus — building skills, earning recognition and launching careers in communication.
