Cochairs of the event planning committee Alex Piteo and Marty Mundy say this towngown event will benefit people who take advantage of it. Organizers of the event say it is an easy stroll, and from the university鈥檚 standpoint, it is inviting people to do something healthy. The event aims to increase lunch and afterwork travel from the university to downtown, as well as encourage trips from downtown to the university. 鈥淭he towngown event is intended to bring awareness of the wonderful restaurants and businesses that we have available in downtown Kent,鈥 says Rachael Decker, wellness coordinator with Kent State鈥檚 Division of Human Resources. 鈥淭he walk itself also promotes usage of the University Esplanade for a quick walk or ride downtown.鈥
