HCRI has again partnered with Hanover Research to help faculty strengthen their grant competitiveness with targeted, professional grant development support.
HCRI members may request services such as:
- Strategic consultations on project concepts, funding mechanisms, and resubmission strategies
- Proposal reviews with detailed feedback and recommendations
- Proposal revisions with direct editorial support
- Funding opportunity identification and prospecting
Because these services are limited, HCRI will award support through a brief competitive application with a rolling application deadline. HCRI will select requests based on project readiness, alignment with a realistic external deadline, potential impact, and the investigator’s plan for using the deliverable. Each approved request will receive one HCRI-supported Hanover service, with token levels determining the type and scope of support available.
Faculty selected for support agree to:
- Submit required materials by the agreed-upon date
- Work directly with Hanover to confirm goals, service type, and timeline
- Submit a brief close-out to HCRI within 30 days of delivery describing how the product was used, the intended sponsor, and the planned submission date or decision not to submit
- Understand that future token support will be considered only after close-out is completed
For consideration: Submit the brief HCRI , including the project description, anticipated sponsor or mechanism, timeline, and requested type of support. Faculty are encouraged to apply early so selected projects can be scoped with Hanover well in advance of the external deadline. After selection, HCRI will connect the investigator with Hanover.

Grant Academy
Grant funding is an increasingly competitive process in which guided expertise is critical to crafting the most fundable research proposals. Describing one's research in a way that can be understood and valued is critical in the competitive selection process. In 2024, 2025, and 2026, HCRI partnered with Hanover Research to facilitate a comprehensive and detailed mentorship program for HCRI faculty members. This program was designed to strengthen emerging researchers' ability to produce highly credible and fundable research proposals that will expand and contribute to knowledge and literature in their respective fields and bring research prestige and funding to Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University. The Grant Academy supported faculty by putting them on a path toward submitting competitive proposals while equipping them with deeper grantsmanship skills and knowledge of the funding landscape.
Healing Stanzas
: Caring for our minds and bodies through reflective writing is a collaboration among the Wick Poetry Center, the Brain Health Research Institute, and the Healthy Communities Research Institute. This project combines the science of brain health and public health with the creative energy of the humanities to provide Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University students, staff, and faculty with an opportunity to improve wellness through reflective poetry.
Qualitative Research Methods Series
The Qualitative Research Methods Series is a collaboration among HCRI, the Anti-Racism and Equity Institute, and the Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Methods Program. This series aims to foster learning opportunities, generate new ideas, and create networks among qualitative researchers at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University and beyond. The 2021-2022 three-part series consisted of the following sessions: 1) Innovations in Qualitative Research, 2) Planning for Analysis and Publication for Qualitative and Creative Research, and 3) Seeking and Securing Funding as a Qualitative Researcher. Recordings and materials from this series can be found here. Stay tuned for future sessions and workshops geared toward qualitative research.
