CPH graduate student's legacy will live on through helping others. Timothy Mikes was a CPH graduate student committed to public health, and a champion for  the autistic community and students with learning disabilities. Future public health students will follow in his footsteps, thanks to a scholarship established in his honor. Blaine McCurdy joined Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s Rising Scholars program in sixth grade after learning about the program and its opportunities for a college education in Columbiana County where he lives. Blaine, who is a first-generation college student, is now in his junior year at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University at Salem studying psychology. The Rising Scholars Program, one on each Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ campus, combines mentoring with assistance from local communities and businesses to provide support for young adults beginning in seventh grade. Day of Giving Student Choice Award

This year, the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University Foundation will give $1,000 to one of the university’s key student support funds in celebration of Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s 113th birthday. From April 24-May 19, students will have the chance to vote for one of four funds, including the CARES Center Fund, the Flashes Fighting Hunger Support Fund, the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Emergency Grant Fund and the Last Dollar Book Scholarship.
