From Classroom to Real World: Six Amazing Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Internship Stories
What do NASA, Porsche, the National Park Service, Walt Disney World, New York Fashion and C-SPAN all have in common? Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University students gained valuable experience and showcased their education and skills this year at each. In the spring, summer and fall semesters of 2019 at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹, 2,740 students completed an internship for credit. Internships are a valuable real-world experience that provide students vital on-the-job training in their chosen fields.

Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Men’s Basketball Wins Season Opener, Freshman Player With Autism Makes History
The Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University men’s basketball team started the 2019-20 season off on a high note with four players scoring in double figures for a 97-58 opening-night victory over the Division III Hiram Terriers at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center on Nov. 6. Freshman Kalin Bennett, the first true freshman diagnosed with autism to sign a letter of intent in Division I men’s basketball, made history when he checked into the contest.

Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Public Relations Students Earn National Recognition
The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) awarded PRSSA Kent the highest national honors for a chapter, the 2019 Outstanding Chapter Award. Public relations major Vanessa Gresley, PRSSA Kent’s vice president of professional relations, earned the Gold Key Award, the highest PRSSA honor for students.

Flashfleet Debuts New Bike-Share Program
Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University’s newest Flashfleet is changing the landscape of using a bike-share program on campus. Flashfleet is available to students, faculty, staff and surrounding community members.

‘Absolute Thrill!’ Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ PR Graduate in the Middle of Washington Nationals Historic Run to World Series
As the champagne flowed Oct. 15 in the clubhouse of the National League Champion Washington Nationals, there was a Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University connection in the middle of the frenzy that capped the team’s first trip to the World Series.

College Students to Compete in SkyHack Design Challenge at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹
Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University’s aviation design challenge, SkyHack, will take place Nov. 1-3. The event draws college students from around the nation, attracting 120 students from 14 universities in four states in its 2017 inaugural debut. Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s College of Aeronautics and Engineering will serve as home base for this year’s event, which will span across other Kent Campus buildings.

National Transfer Student Week Brings Awareness and Community
This fall, more than 900 students transferred to Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University. National Transfer Student Week is Oct. 21-25, and the university is hosting events specifically designed for transfer students, creating opportunities for these students and the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ community to engage.

Precision Flight Team Qualifies for Nationals
Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s Precision Flight ranked third overall last week at the Region III Safecon, Competition at The Ohio State University (OSU) securing its place in the national competition. The National Intercollegiate Flight Association (NIFA) SAFECON flight competition, the premier collegiate flight competition with over 500 competitors from more than 30 schools, will be held at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, May 18-23, 2020.

Esports Team Takes the Hearthstone Trophy at First Esports Invitational
Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University's Esports team won the Hearthstone finals at the Harrisburg University Esports (HUE) Invitational held in mid-September. The Esports team was among 64 collegiate teams invited to the competition. The team took the Hearthstone champion title, winning against ten other universities.
